QuestionI'm feeding it and watering it, looks better today than yesterday, I thought I had a west nile case on my hands at first. Now, I'd like to secure the leg and see if it heals, any input? I'd love to have a rescuer take her but all the bird groups take wild birds around here and I really don't have the budget for a vet bill.
Thanks,
Connie
AnswerHi Connie,
Here is a great website that might help you out with the band identification:
http://www.pigeon.org/lostbirdinfo.htm
Here is also a list of pigeon rescuers and rehabbers by location that you can contact:
http://www.pigeon-life.net/prd.htm
Do you know where the leg is broken at? Here is a skeletal drawing that may help:
http://people.eku.edu/ritchisong/skeleton.html
And finally, here is a drawing that may help you with splinting and securing the leg:

I have just a few more questions: does the pigeon drink and eat well? Does the leg dangle or it limps?
Thanks,
Stacie
