Can pigeons move their babies?

Question
I had a pigeon lay two eggs on my balcony and they hatched. The babies were there for about 3-5 days but they are now gone, mother, father and the babies. Can the mother/father move the babies at this age?

Answer
Hi, David,

No.  Pigeon parents cannot move their babies.  Even when eggs are laid on the ground, if babies move away from the nest and the parents don't move to that new spot to keep them warm and fed, the babies will die.  I'd say the babies fell out of the nest or a hawk or other predator got them.  Maybe the babies died for health reasons and the parents pushed them out of the nest.  The parents likely flew to another location with the babies gone.
