Our Pet Pidgeon

Question
About a year ago, a pidgeon with a broken wing ended up in our front yard and has been living with us ever since.  We built a cage for her and she happily lives on our back porch.  My husband has carefully cared for her all this time and she's been very friendly and loving.  About a week ago, I put a "porch" off the front of her cage so she could come out and stretch.  That very day, she suddenly turned on my husband and now attacks him every time he comes near.  He can't even reach into the cage to give her fresh food and water anymore.  What the heck happened?  The reason we assume that she's a she is because she one day stuck her rump up into the air and we could see a little flexing pink orifice; so we gathered that she was "assuming the position," if you know what I mean.  Prior to the porch being added, she had been friendly to both of us - letting us pet her and massage her broken wing every day.  HELP!

Answer
Hi Linda,

It could be because she is being territorial about her new house. Once they get comfy and cozy, they might attack if they think you are being an intruder. Does she only attack your husband? Sorry for the extremely late response!

Thanks,
Stacie
