pigeons eggs on veranda and plants

Question
Have pigeons nesting in of my potted plants. Do not want to go out and water as they might be frightened away. Discovered when I went out to water about a week ago and the mother flew off. Parents returned, but is it safe to disturb orshould I wait till they hatch?

Answer
If these are indeed wild (feral) birds, they may not tolerate disturbance.  But most likely, they will be fine if you are respectfull and only water when necessary.  I would recomend watering at the same time of day, and preferably mid morning.  The male bird sits on eggs during the day, and if he is disturbed the female will still come back at night and this should bring him back to his duties!

Good luck,
Dave
