New born birds

Question
Hello There,

We moved in to a new house and installed grills on all windows as we have three cats and there are lots of birds around. The thing is, we had no idea that there were two pigeon eggs on a loft. today the eggs have hatched and the mother cannot get to the birds as all the windows are closed. Should we put the new born birds outside in a shady corner? We have tried feeding the birds but they don't respond. also, due to the presence of the three cats we cannot really have the pigeons as pets either. We have no rescue center in our country that can cater to such a problem. please help! What should we feed the birds? Will the birds survive? how much warmth do they need?

regards,

S

Answer
Hi,

The best bet would be to allow the mother to raise them. Can you open one window just to let her in? You could try moving the babies to an accessible area that is very close to where they originally were found. If this is not possible, you can try caring for them yourself, which can be very tricky. I have posted a few links with some good information that might be helpful to you:

Just remember that the babies need to be warm before giving them any formula or water! Let me know how things are. I know I took a while to respond...

Thanks,
