Ringneck Dove

Question
A friend gave my husband a ringneck dove that he had before he got married...he had to find a new home for it so he gave it to my husband.  He kept this dove in his apartment to roam freely throughout which caused the problem with his new wife...I bought a cage for it and now it sleeps and eats in the cage.  The other day "she" laid one egg and today another.  She sits on them all day except to eat and do a daily "fly around".  These eggs are not fertile...so will she give up after a while? or do I need to remove these eggs and throw them away now?

Answer
She will eventually give up.  However, it may not be that simple for the owners!  First, the eggs will go bad before long and could explode.  But if you remove them immediately, she may very well repeat the scenario and this could go on a long time draining the poor bird of nutrition.

I would recommend finding some type of analog to replace the eggs with and let her have fun!  Sooner or later she will get bored.  She will probably still repeat, but the cycle will be much longer this way.
