Question
hey i have 2 budgies we don't know there gender but one  one of them has had 5 eggs and (she) is sitting on them it had been over 3 weeks and nothing has happened we are wondering how long it takes for the eggs to hatch. is it possible that the other budgie is a felmale too?

Answer
If the eggs have been there for over three weeks, they probably aren't going to hatch.  The average time to hatch is 18 days after she starts incubating.  If she continues to try to hatch them, try swapping them with dummy eggs.  You can get these at pet stores.  They closely resemble the real thing, but they won't hatch or rot.  After a while, she will get bored and lose interest since they won't do anything.

It is possible you have two females, or that this batch just didn't work out.  Look at the cere (the area above the beak that is colored).  In females, it is a brownish purple in color, but in males it is either blue or pink in some breeds.  That's the easiest way to tell.

Best of luck!
