Question
my african grey has decreased in activity, she sits at the bottom of her cage and she has runny poo she has also been laying eggs without a mate could you possibly tell me why this is happening if you could i would be so greatfull. do i need to take her to the vets

Answer
Yes, you need to get this bird to a vet ASAP!  Just sitting at the bottom of the cage is a serious sign of illness. Especially if her activity has decreased (which would go along with sitting at the bottom of the cage), and her droppings have become runny. Often times birds will sit with their feathers fluffed up, and sleep more often too.

You can find an avian vet in your area by searching these websites:

http://www.parrotpro.com/avianlst.htm

and

www.aav.org

I hope this helps- and good luck... I hope it isn't anything too serious.
