Question
Hi,
I have a pet Peachface Lovebird that is 5 months old and doesnt bite. The
only thing is that it LOVES its cage and never wants to come out. When i do
mannage to get it out, It squirms untill i put it back in. I want it to be
attached to me and want my company. I have herd that Lovebirds can bond to
one person Very well and i have met people who have lovebirds that LOVE
them to death. What can i do to make my lovebird bond with me so that i can
carry it around without it trying to fly away from me. Is it to late to get it to
bond with me? Do they have to be babies? Well if there is any way to get the
Lovebird to actually want my company i would be EXTREAMLY happy to hear
about that. Thank you SO much!

MacKenzie

Answer
Hello MacKenzie,

You can bond with your bird, no matter the age. What it takes is time and commitment to training and engaging in fun activities with your bird.

The biggest problem I can see with your interactions with your bird is that you are within view of the cage. You need to move your bird out of site of the cage to begin training so that he has the opportunity to learn that you are also safe. And birds can bond to as many people as are willing to establish a reletionship with the bird. Please do not believe the 'one person' myth as it is ridiculous.
