Question
please help

My daughters lovebird's beek broke.  Only the tip maybe about 1cm.  It was bleeding but stopped quickly.  Is this normal will she be okay? Should I put antibiotic cream on it?  She won't use it to climb or play with her toys.  Is she in a lot of pain?

Answer
Hi, Sydney,

I found your question(s) in the question pool this morning.  Evidently, the person you sent your question(s) to originally could not answer for some reason.

Your bird needs to be seen by a certified avian vet ASAP.  No, it is not normal for a beak to break.  No, do not put antibiotic cream on it.  If your bird is not crying out or acting abnormally, she is likely not in pain, but she may not be able to eat and drink properly.  This is why she needs to be seen by a bird vet.  If she can't eat and drink properly, she will likely get ill and/or could pass away, depending on the severity of the break.
