Question
Hi
I just purchased my first mini. She is a 1 y.o mare. She is extremely gentle. Got along great with my 90lb goldenretriever/lab mix. She leads great and we have enjoyed walking the park I hope to drive in a couple of years. My question is. I am new to minis and driving. I am looking for a trainer but how do I know if I have a good trainer? are there exercises I can do with her now that will help her get ready for driving. I plan to enter all our local horse shows.
thank you
debbie

Answer
Hi Debbie I thought I had already answered this question but it showed pending so here it goes again. The best thing to do is ask around your local area to the bigger breeders of who they use? If they are showing successfully and doing some winning they must be using an okay trainer. Then go talk with the trainer see what their training techniques are like and maybe go visit when they are working some horses. Make sure whoever you go with has a contract spelling out exactly what they intend to accomplish for you and that you agree. IT is sometimes a trial and error thing until you find one you really like. Good luck Melissa
