QuestionIm looking at buying a 6 to 8 month old filly. Its not the first horse I will have owned but will be the first that is not broken. Im wanting to work with her myself but dont know if this the best idea Im buying her for my son. Im wondering how difficult will it be roughly to get her atleast bridle broken. I realize all horses have diffrent demeanors and attitudes so I know there really isnt a total right answer. Im just hoping to get her bridle broken by christmas so that when I give her to my son I can bring her to him.

AnswerHi Calvin,
Congratulations on your purchase. Your filly will not be ready to have a bridle on her until she is at least 2 years of age and will not be ready to be ridden until she is at least 3. For now work on ground manners, trailering, picking up feet and tying.
