Question
Denise,

I recently have read some information that makes me question whether I am riding and cueing properly.  Do you have any reading or dvd suggestions?

Thanks,
Lisa Frye

Answer
Hi Lisa!

Heck YES!!!  Look at "The Making of a Bridle Horse" series by Buck Brannaman, anything by Ray Hunt, you can go to the websites of both.  Also look up the DVD posted on Bryan Neubert's website, good stuff here.  This is primarily the Buckaroo/Vaquero style of great horsemanship.  For more of the Classic Californio style, check out Burce Sandifer on Facebook or his website.  The Classic Californio style is VERY close to classical dressage in presence and frame, it is what I am focusing on in my own horsemanship.  It takes the Buckaroo/Vaquero style of horsemanship to a new level and fits in seamlessly to my dressage background!

As for Dressage, look up Thomas Ritter Dressage on the web and you can find them on Facebook as well, Ritter Dressage or Shana Ritter. Thomas was classically trained at the Spanish Riding School in Vienna and spent many years here in Oregon.  Sadly for all of us, he has returned to Germany, such a loss.  Thomas' mentor is Charles de Knuffy, you can find him on the web and he has many DVD's that are wonderful.  Charles is a dressage master and just amazing.  Also look for Major Jeremy Beal, I'm not sure what the status is of his DVD collection, but you can give it a look.

These fine individuals have been so helpful to me!  It is just a joy to be able to continue to share them!

Have FUN!!!

Denise
