pregnant?

Question
Silly me. I didn't know my 14 mo stud colt could impregnate my mare (internet sites say sexual maturity from 18 mo to 2 yrs.) My mare's heat periods are always very obvious, and seem to last forever. This past time, after one day of breeding, she was definitely not any longer in the mood. Is that a sign of conception?

Answer
Dear Lygle,
It is possible but not very common that such a young colt could impregnate her. I would definatly seperate them. IN about 40 days you can get a pregnancy test for you mare. Or just wait longer if you do not want a test, to when her belly starts to expand. But if you don't want a pregnancy it's best to seperate them.
