horse rearing - my action

hello Lyn, all of a sudden if my horse rears, i would grip my knees, press my thighs and lean forward in order to stay balanced on the animal. if i do so, in any chance i wont fall off the horse. am i right?

Generally I would say yet.  You really want to make sure you don't pull on the reins, I will grab a handful of mane, so you don't pull the horse over on top of you.  Not fun cushioning a horse, believe me.  I have had horses rear so extremely that I threw my arms around their neck.  Biggest thing is not having them do it in the first place!  But if they do you hang on.
