Question
hi, my 9 year old paint mare's hind legs are swollen from fetlock to midcannon, more on the outsides. there is no heat, no lameness, no pain with poking or prodding. she has 24/7 turnout. no visable wounds. they're not stovepipes, just no tendon definition.

Answer
Stacylynn - This is a mystery to me ... not painful, no lameness, no heat and only on the hind legs.  The location of the inflammation is too high to be from stocking up.  The only thing I could recommend besides 10 - 15 minutes of hydrotherapy for a few days is that if it persists, have your vet check her out.  I have never seen something like this or heard of it.  So sorry I couldn't be of more help!
