lame??

i have a 5 yr old mare who i just got and dont really know much about her past. she seems to have a problem with her right rear leg. there is some swelling in the hock, but dosnt seem to make her limp or favor that leg. there is also a popping noise quite often comming from this leg/ hip.  do you have any advise about what might cause this?  any help would be apperciated

Hi Kris.
  It's hard to give you an answer with any degree of certainty without seeing the horse. Since you are concerned, it's better to be safe than sorry. I'd have your vet take a look and follow his or her recommendations.
