tracing a horse brand

Question
I'm wondering how to learn more about my horse from his brand.
It looks like a V on a straight line (or bar) over and A
I have no idea about his past. I'm in Missouri. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi Diane ... wow, what a great question. I've never researched a brand but it sounds like a great project.  I would start by getting a good picture of the brand then I'd contact the Missouri department of agriculture and find out if they have a record of it.  If not, try your bordering states.  I'm pretty sure that all brands have to be registered with whatever state they're in.
