why not shoes for riders

hello madam, why all the horseback riders irrespective of discipline wear boots??? why dont they wear shoes??? i have observed few riders wearing chaps

regular shoes have a lot of grip on them and they will get caught on the stirrup with means a rider can be dragged. boots have thin grips which allow you to get your foot in and out easily. they are also made of more durable leather. this is why they are better and safer. chaps and to prevent the leather from pinching your leg.
