Question
Hello.
Are buttercups (found in England) poisonous to horses ? If a horse was left in a field of buttercups in full flower would it eat them or avoid them ?
Thanks.

Answer
heya,
sorry it took a while to get back, had a bit of a riding accident last week n ive only just been able to get up the stairs to my computer!
Buttercups are toxic and can be poisonous to horses. they taste horrible to horses though, and they mainly avoid them in a field anyway. Buttercups are often found dried in hay, but they are fine when found there, when theyre dried theyre no longer dangerous. Ragwort in hay is still poisonous though and should be removed.
Hope i helped! sorry for the delay.
