Question
Dear Milton,

I bought two horses about five months ago, one gelding and one
mare. The mare "Maggie" is four years old and the gelding
"Dune" is about a year. The hooves on both of the horses are
regularly worked on by my farrier and they look good after.
However they now peel and flake on the wall and they dont look
the best. How can i care for them, is there an oil or a technique
for cleaning? I aslo have another question. Maggie, the mare,
has been a darling with her hooves for a long time, she gave me
no trouble lifting them. Now she gives me a very hard time and
only lifts one, the front-right one. I am very worried about her
situation. I just don't know the problem. Do you think she is not
lifting because I did not provide enough attention for the past
month?
Please, I need your help.

Answer
GET A PRODUCT CALLED KERATEX GEL. CLEAN THE HOOVES WITH A HOOF  PICK AND BRUSH, THEN PAINT ON THE ENTIRE HOOF WITH A 1IN PAINT BRUSH TWICE A WEEK.

NATURALLY SHE WILL HAVE TO PICK UP HER HOOVES IN ORDER TO TAKE CARE OF THEM. THIS IS PROBABLY JUST A BAD HABIT SHE HAS DEVELOPED FROM NOT DOING IT ON A REGULAR BASIS
