Question
hello Lyn. i believe that when the horse trots, its back muscles rise up and down. that's the reason why we post to feel comfortable. am i correct?

Answer
Rohit,

No, the back muscles don't rise but posting was developed by the English.  The name comes from the rider who rode one of the lead horses, generally the left horse, in a multi-horse hitch. He was the post rider.  Carriage horses travel at a good working trot which is not comfortable to sit so the post rider figured out a way to work with the horse so that riding for a long period of time wasn't uncomfortable for either horse or rider.
