Questionhello Lyn. i believe that when the horse trots, its back muscles rise up and down. that's the reason why we post to feel comfortable. am i correct?
AnswerRohit,
No, the back muscles don't rise but posting was developed by the English. The name comes from the rider who rode one of the lead horses, generally the left horse, in a multi-horse hitch. He was the post rider. Carriage horses travel at a good working trot which is not comfortable to sit so the post rider figured out a way to work with the horse so that riding for a long period of time wasn't uncomfortable for either horse or rider.
