Question
QUESTION: i had my two red eared sliders for over a year and the person that gave them to me had them about the same lenght of time. well i put them in my man made fish pond about a week ago and they both died and i have no clue why. both of them knew how to catch minnows and  tad poles and everything, they have also been in a pond before. i have no clue what went wrong here, did i do something wrong with them because i thought theyed love the pond because i have others that are in the pond and have been in there for about two years know. can you help me with these please?
thanks alot.

ANSWER: Outdoor ponds are usually better as long as they provide the turtle's needs- was there a good basking site? Was the water temp up around 75-80 during the day? Was their food other than relatively fast moving and hard to catch fish?

I can make several guesses, but you may want to try a care forum, such as http://www.turtleforum.com where there is more give and take and they can discuss such things more easily.

QUESTION: yes there is a basking spot, regular turtle food(pellets), and the water stays at a good temp. so what could it be now? any ways thanks.

Answer
Stress, shock, thermal shock, maladaptation syndrome and some other conditions would explain why they both succumbed at about the same time. They would be hard to diagnose just by looking.

I'm sorry, but I just cannot think of anything else to look for.
