Turtle chirps?

I keep hearing an occasional "chirp" sound from my son's yellow-bellied slider. It is a sound somewhere between that of a tree-frog and that of a cricket. Am I imagining things? This seems to happen when he (or she) is sunning under the heat lamp.

Turtles do make occasional noises, and a chirp like noise is one of them.

Most noises are made during courtship, mating, or fighting but they do occasionally make random noises.

On the other hand, it might just be the result of something rubbing or moving. Many keepers think they hear noises only to find that it is the turtle moving on some surface.
