hi,
my name is Kate Barkley and i'm turning thirteen in august. i want to get  a turtle but i have no clue what kind to get. it has to be pretty small and i'm at my moms house 1/2 the time so i'd like it to be low maintenance for my dad.and it would be better if it could be inside. sorry for being so picky.thank u so much i really appreciate it.

Hello Kate, I would have suggested an Aquatic Turtle because of the maintance but they can get up to 12 inches in diameter (distance across the shell)Needing an adult enclosure of 120 gallons or larger

So my next idea is a box turtle because they get up to only 4-6 inches. And need an enclosure of a 50 gallon tank (long ways or width ways the best you dont need a lot of height and bigger the tank the better) So at least 3feet long and 1ft deep at any height.

The Three Toed Box Turtle is one of the most common box turtles kept as pets.
It is best to setup the enclosure as close as you can to their natural habitat. These turtles aren't recommended for beginners so do all of the research you can.

Aquatic Turtles like the Red Ear Slider are more common but can get very large. A lot of people give their RES turtles away once they get too big. But it takes years before that time.
