Question
I have a baby map turtle and it doesn't seem to come out of the water enough to bask. I think it's shell might be getting a littl soft and I am wondering if I should just put him in a dry tank for portions of the day? Any info you could share would be great.   Thanks

Answer
Hi Tonya, he is fine in his water, it probably just makes him feel secure. You can add "hiding" places on his basking area to help him feel safe up and out of the water. So a fake plant or something up on the land area should help him feel safe, withotu being watched.

Baby's shells are usually soft until they get older, just like a baby human has soft bones until they get older.
