Question
i have a few slider turtles my son got at a campground about a year ago, if not a little more. i want to release them this upcoming weekend(10/5/08) in the lake he found them in. will they survive and be ok i i do this? is this time of year ok, and will they survive?  we got them as babies, and they have grown a good bit, although some are still quite small.

Answer
Well....

In general, we recommend that turtles not be released after about 8 months, and in late spring/early summer.

However, this would probably be OK, and better for them than another year in captivity, which is pretty stressful for wild turtles.

Good luck!
