What type of turtle?

Face   QUESTION: Someone gave my sons a turtle, they bought it from a pet shop but the sales clerk was no help. I need to know what to find and habitat it needs.

Your pictures aren't very clear, so it's hard to tell.  It also looks like there might be some shell damage, but that could be due to picture quality.  If you could post more pictures, specifically very clear and close shots (with good lighting or flash, and with the head extended if possible) in side view, top view, and from underneath, I can help better.  At this point I really can't tell you anything specific.  You weren't told anything at all?

Sorry, but those pictures aren't much better--they're too blurry and indistinct.  What does the plastron (bottom shell) look like?  Is there a hinge (can it close up), or any type of patterning?  The black on the upper shell--is that patterning on the shell itself, or just discoloration?  Is there any kind of patterning on the head or neck?  Anything specific that you can tell me will help me to pinpoint an ID for you, and then I can point you to care information.
