bringing baby sulcata on the airplane

Question
Hi, I live in hawaii, specifically the island of oahu, and I will be taking a trip to visit my mom on the big island next month. The flight is about 45 minutes. I have had my baby sulcata for about 2 months now, he is about 52grams in weight, quite healthy, good diet of orchard hay and mixed greens. I wanted to bring him along with me since I have no one I totally TRUST to care for him properly other than myself. I would be able to bring him on board the plane (I checked), but was wondering if this is entirely safe for a baby sully, or if there are any risks with this? Thanks in advance!

Answer
The main risks are the stress of movement, confinement, handling, and environment- none are big by themselves, but they can add up. If you will be leaving it for less than a week, you might want to consider just leaving it home with a big meal to graze on.

You may also want to think about training someone nearby to act as a good petsitter in a pinch. You never know when it will come in handy!
