African Side Necked Turtles

Do they get along with RED EARED SLIDERS? My Husband has a 4 inch RES and a baby RES (a little bigger than a quarter) We were wanting to know if we bought a 55 gallon aquarium could the co-exist with out fighting. The reason why I am asking is a few year ago we had a 4 inch RES and pair of ASN and they did not get along but the RES did not get along with nobody. LOL Hope fully you can help us.
Do African Slide Necks need a more specialized care then RES?

African Side-necks are outside of my expertise, but RES are fighters in a lot of situations- especially if the space is a bit undersized for them.

When you are calculating the space, figure about 10 gallons of water per inch of turtle shell length, so the 4" and the 1" RES are already pushing the limits of a 55 gallon tank.
