sulcata babies

I have just gotten a sulcata 7 week tortise. I was told that I could use rabbit 75% alfalfa pellets for their bedding or sand since it is a desert tortise what would be best

I don't like sand for juveniles. The pellets may also cause impaction if they are too large, but would be better than sand. Everyone has thier own view. I like non-natural such as mats or reptile tuft for really young animals. You could also use an organic soil, but I would advise you to just do some websearching on their care.
