Question
QUESTION: hi.
i have a question regarding my female glider.she always bites me everytime i try to hold her or carry her. and sometimes it bites until it bleeds.I need your opinion on this.maybe she is not well bonded with me yet because she used to bonded with my friends before.but since i have to breed it with my male glider,i have been taking care of her ever since. In your opinion,do you think that i should stop trying to handle her and let her recognize me at her own time,or maybe i could do something to stop her from biting me till it bleeds.coz this really worries me.
thank you for your time

ANSWER: I would recommend some type of welding glove.. I use them only with the meanest of rescues I encounter.. but it works wonders..!!

Not handling her will only reinforce her biting by showing her she will get her way if she bites you.. and we want to discourage that don't we..!! lol

She has not been properly bonded to you just yet & with some patience you WILL see a difference in her demeanor.. a mutual respect must be built between the two of you.. so please do not give up..!!
It may take a very long time.. but the payoff is well worth it..
for you and her.. :)

Handle her every chance you get.. pet her gently with the gloves even tho she squirms and tries to get away.. all of her crabbing will go away after time.. reward her with treats..!! she will love you in no time :)

Best Wishes & Happy Holidays..!!

QUESTION: thank you for your advice.i have one other question.if im not mistaken, using gloves will not make her recognize my scent right?is it okay to use the glove when i wanted her to recognize the scent of my hand and get used with me holding her bare handed..
thank you..

Answer
I do not believe it will inhibit the bonding by much.. bonding is so much more than mere smell.. think about when you are sitting next to a loved one.. you can most definitely smell their cologne, or breath right..?? She can still smell you.. her sense of smell is much greater than ours is.. you can still hold her close to you.. she will still hear you.. and feel you and smell you.. which is all a part of getting used to her new owner aNd if you are wanting to further your bond you can purchase a bonding pouch that zips closed for her / your safety.. this way she can bond with you during the day while she sleeps.. and you can wear it around your neck..
