Question
QUESTION: hi, i have just purchesed my first snake, its a royal and she is gorgeous. i was wondering if there is any way to tell how old she is. thanks
ANSWER: Hi Andi
Royal ADULT pythons males are generally shorter -48 inches maximum - and more slender, while ADULT females are longer - up to around 72 inches.  A yearling/one year old (which is what most snakes are sold as) are around 18 inches long.  If you can, measure him and let me know how many inches he is.

The humidity in tank will vary from 30-35. it wont stay up!

Answer
To either add or remove humidity, you can provide bigger or smaller water bowls. You can restrict, but not stop, air flow from the tank. You can use porous substrates (i.e. mulch) that will hold some moisture and mist the cage every so often. I feel that if you provide a big water bowl with a hole cut in the lid, the snake will use it as another hide and soak/re-hydrate itself as needed. Hope this helped.
