Question
hello jess. my redtail boa has some bluish greenish coloring on the scales. i dont know if it is sick or if it just happens. also what type of wood should i put into the tank so he can climb around...i dont want to put anything that would harm him. (also how do i sterilize the wood so not to bring anything random into the tank?)

Answer
Hello, if you could get some willow branches or bark from a reptile shop that should be fine for him. If its small enough, bake the wood in the oven at a high temperature to kill parasites, if not then fill up the bath tub and make sure the water totally covers the wood, put some bleach in and leave it for 24 hours to kill any parasites, make sure its well rinsed. As for the scales, its hard to tell without seeing a pic, but as long as they arent retained skin from a shed and the snake is in good health they should be ok. If worried as someone in the local reptile store to take a look for you. Good luck with your snake
