QuestionQUESTION: Hi there, my tortoise's poo has become much softer and runny over the past few days. It used to be small pellets. I havent seen any worms or eggs in it, but not sure if I would with the naked eye? He eats a diet of dandelion leaves and mixed rocket salad leaves, with a strawberry occasionally or a plum. Do you have any advice? Many thanks.
ANSWER: Hi Debbie. I would get him checked for parasites just in case, but I would guess that he might be having runny stools due to either the fruit, or needing a bit more insoluable fiber. Hermann's torts don't process fruit very well, so it can create digestive distress for them. Adding a bit of ground bermuma grass hay, or the like, will add a source of fiber to your tort's diet that will help him have normal poo again. Good luck to you and your cute pet! Nicole

QUESTION: Hi Nicole, many thanks for your reply. Did you mean "Bermuda" grass hay? and would any pet shop hay do?
Many thanks
Debbie
AnswerHello again! I honestly don't know if any shop will do, but one tat sells both small pet supplies and reptile supplies is your best bet. This is a link you can just copy and paste to see the product that I am referring to.
