Question
Hello! My beardie is about 6 months old now and iv'e noticed his stools are quite soft. They are mostly olive green, with a bit of white in it.Some of it seems a little runny. He is fed about 15 crickets a day along with some green bearded dragon pellets. I find his stools are also very very smelly. Does this sound like a normal stool description or is something not right ?
thank you

Answer
Hi Joey. Beardie stools should be formed, that is not puddles, or very runny. The white is the urates, which is how they get rid of the waste in the rest of their system outside the digestive tract. I would recommend getting his stool checked for parasites at your local herp vet. I was amazed by the smell of the beardie stools too, but there is a big difference between the stink of normal poo, and sick poo. I would say smelly is normal, but very very smelly probably isn't. If it isn't a parasitic problem, or infection, I would think adding some good greens into his diet might help calm his digestive system. Collared, mustard, or dandelion. Good luck! Nicole
