Baby Stripped Geiko

Hi,

We have had our Baby Stripped Gecko for about 3 years now and all of a sudden we just walked into our son's room where the Gecko is kept and noticed that his tongue is hanging out of his mouth.  His tongue is swollen and looks as though it has a cut on it.  I don't see any blood but also noticed that the sand is sticking to his tongue and making it hard for him to pull his tongue in his mouth.

Do you have any idea what would cause this?  Any kind of disease?

Hello Belinda,

Is there anything in his tank that he could have cut his tongue on?  Do you supplement calcium?  
What types of food do you feed him?  Could a worm or cricket bitten him maybe?
I would take the sand out of his tank & replace it with paper towels so he doesn't ingest more sand.  
What type of lighting & heating do you provide?
