Question
You helped me before about my dragons behavior, now i wanna have his home just right, how should i properly setup his 125 gallon tank with the right heat and humidity, i have a heat lamp with a 150 watt basking bulb during the day and a 75 watt infrared bulb at night,is this enough heat? i also bought a digital thermometer, but where do i put the sensor, on the bottom or in the middle, i don't know where to read his temps from, and lastly if my tank is 6 feet long, should i have a 6 foot florescent uvb?  Can you please help me out.

Answer
Hello Jason,

Great!  Wow, I am impressed, that is a great sized tank, he must be very happy.
You will need to focus the UVB & heat on one end.  So place the flourescent tube UVB at one end, & have it go roughly 3/4ths of the tank for brightness, & at the one end, place the basking light.  The 150 watt bulb during the day should be adequate as long as the temps are reading correctly.  Put the probe sensor directly on the basking spot to ensure it is where it needs to be.  Let me know what it is reading.  Remember that it does take around 45 minutes to fully register the true temperature of the basking spot.  The infrared bulb at night should be fine.  Make sure that his head is covered so it doesn't bother his sleeping cycle, as they can see that light spectrum.  Just use a soft fleece blankie or something that he can snuggle in at night.
The basking should be around 95 or so & the humidity around 50%.  Can you send me a picture of him to my home email?  I would like to see him. :-))

Let me know how things go!
