my leopard lizards nail came off

my leopard lizard is over a year old. and i was helping him shed the rest of the extra skin off his hands and feet but i accidently must have took it off to hard and it came off i put water on it and covered the blood with a paper towel. he is breathing heavy maybe because of the pain i'm not sure but will he be ok. is he going to die?

Well, he should be ok.  You must have ripped the nail bed.  So the entire nail came out?  
What you can do is get some betadine, & dilute it to where it is lightly colored like tea, to clean it.  Then, get some antibiotic ointment such as neosporin or polysporin & put that on there daily to help him out.
He will not die, no.  I am sure that it does hurt him though, so try to keep it as clean as you can.  Is he on loose substrate or a solid substrate?
