Panacur for Leos

Question
Hi Tracie,  You helped me with a question before regarding Leopard Geckos eyes, and I am currently treating two adults with Terramycin ointment.
Thank you so very much for the advice/info.
I have one more question now, but it is regarding two babies.  They are eleven months old, and one is very small.  I read up about Panacur - because they keep losing weight and not eating. I have fed chicken and squash baby food for the smallest gecko (who was born slightly deformed, and kind of webby looking and is much smaller than the other one...he/she is also much skinnier becasue it started loosing weight before the larger one), I am now starting a mix of the chicken and squash babyfood with calcium, minerals, and ensure - vanilla. I am thinking of getting some Panacur for them, but could not find it on beautifuldragons.com  Maybe I am not looking in the right place on their site. So, I also began searching for other sites that sell it...But, my question is, is it the Panacur Paste or Panacur for Canines that I can use for leopard geckos. Thank you Tracie.  I don't know their weight, but can I send you a photo. they are really tiny?  (Sometimes have trouble with camera, but I am determined to figure it out this week) :)

P.S. The larger of the two "babies" doesn't seem to lick the baby food/mixture like the tiny gecko does. I noticed the larger guy is much more scared of me, (so i am always afraid of him dropping his tail- but he hasn't yet), and he never gets his tongue out of his mouth- almost like the tongue is too short, and he can just "suck" up water when he drinks. So it is hard to feed him baby food. Him(?) and the tiny baby were the last two I hatched (last summer).

Thank you thank you thank you!!!

Answer
Hello Crystal,

The Panacur is an equine dewormer which is used for cats, dogs, cattle, etc.  So, it is all safe, as there is no reptile specific dewormer, really, but Panacur is routinely used because it is not toxic.
Here is the site so you can order some Panacur.  Too bad I don't have my store up yet, I would send you there to buy it.  :-))  I just don't have it quite finished yet.

Keep trying with the feeding, it really is helping.  At least he is getting something which is better than nothing.
If they are that small just give a standard dose of .01ml.  I am basing this on a 20gram gecko, & a dosage of 50mg/kg, so that should be pretty safe.  Anything less than that, I don't think there is a syringe for a .005ml.  If they are not quite 20grams, then you could just give under the .01ml if you feel more comfortable doing so.

Good luck, you are doing great!

Tracie
