bearded dragon not basking

Question
Hi Pam, I have two young bearded dragons (from pet smart so of course the age is questionable) I think they are anywhere from 4-7 months. They have all the required necessities and proper daily care. One is thriving and eats like a hog. My other one however has stopped basking and has been lying under logs now for about a week and a half. At first I thought maybe he was shedding and was lethargic as a result. Now he has stopped eating as much. He went from 4-6 meal worms a day and now will maybe eat 1-2 meal worms a day and doesn't touch his prepared food. (Not actually sure it is a boy)My dad is a vet and I am wondering if I should give him antibiotics and if so which kind. Please Help, He's my sweet one! Thank you for your time. Heidi
p.s. I read about them hibernating but is this common at young age and in summer?

Answer
You need to separate these two.  Beardies are loners in the wild, and are very territorial.  The dominant one will not share basking and will eat most of the food.  And if they are both males, one will eventually hurt or even kill the other.  Get a second set-up and allow the other to have his own territory, then he'll catch up.  Have they had a vet check yet?  There may also be parasite issues from the stress of living together.
