Red-tailed boa twitching

Question
QUESTION: I fed my boa yesterday, and his stomach seems to be larger than last time. I assume the food was a little to big. It looked the same to me but I must've been wrong. I woke up this morning to find him twitching in his terrarium... What do I do???

ANSWER: Hello Wade,

Oh no, that is not good.  How much larger of a feeder did you use?  Are you feeding frozen/thawed rats?
How badly is he twitching?
I would try giving him a daily bath, letting him swim around for some exercise to try & help promote quicker digestion thus allowing him to pass it more easily.  Other than that, there is not a whole lot more you can do.  In serious cases, possibly mineral oil could be given to help him pass it better.
This may be a case in which you are going to have to take him to a vet, because this could be an impaction that he might not be able to pass, I just don't know.

Let me know how he is doing!

QUESTION: He regurgitated it this morning. I won't feed him for about a week. And I won't be handling him either as I'm sure he is stressed. Not to mention he is about to shed. Is their anything else that I should be doing for him or be aware of? Thank you for the advice!

Answer
Hello Wade,

Oh sorry to hear that, poor thing.  Yeah, let him calm down, & shed before attempting to feed him again.
Just make sure the temperatures & humidity are good in his tank right now since he is getting ready to shed.  Do you have a hot spot for him roughly around 88 or so, but no higher than 91?

Let me know how he is doing.
