Okay Tara here goes...and hi!

FOLLOW UP QUESTION:  Okay ...I will try to put the hay in a rack over the litterbox then so he goes into the litterbox to eat it ..as I have read that they like to eliminate while they eat.  What about the Carefresh in the rest of the litter box?  Is it a good idea to have carefresh bedding in the rest of the cage?  or will he think that that is litter as well?  I am determnined to make this happen!!
Thank you again for all of your help!

My new bunny (about 10 weeks) is very happy...he jumps and plays and so far so good...I have a large cage for him and in the corner is a high back litter pan with Yesterdays News in it....problem...he goes outside the litter pan corner...where the litter pan corner and the cage make a corner..thats where he is going instead of going *in* the litter pan......he is a mini lop and I plan on having him neutered as soon as he is old enough.....in his litterbox is his alfalfa (until he is about 1  then I will switch to Timothy hay).....and the rest of his cage is lined with Carefresh.....should the rest of his cage have nothing on the bottom....and only the litterbox have something in it?.....I am so desperately hoping that he will become litter trained.....he has his playtime and I am working on the litter training outside the cage as well.....any help with this is GREATLY appreciated.....also...do you know why it is not good to give them yogurt drops....?   I had been using them to train him to come  (which by the way was working EXTREMELY well)  and then last night I read that they should not have them.  It really didnt say why though. He is SO happy and SO darned cute I cant stand it!!!  LOL!!!
Thanks again for all of your help in advance....

Hello JoDonna

Well basicly your supposed to put the litter pan in one corner and then put some soiled litter in it and there supposed to use it, According to waht you've wrote you have yesteradys news and alfalfa in his litter box? Yesteredays news is great but dont put his hay in the litter box this will cause his to avoide going in the box because he likes to eat the hay and he cant eat it if he goes on it, He can be neutered at six months. As for yogurt drops dont feed them because they contain milk products and rabbits are lactosintolerant instead offer some high fiber treats whitch he should love, fiber is very inportant in a rabbits diet, for extra fiber you can mix some bran(used for baking)with water untill it is slightly more then damp they seem to love this you can put pieces of vegtables and fruits in this for an added treat.

I hope this helps if you have any more queastions feel free to ask.

Hello Again JoDonna

No do not put the hay in a rack above the litter pan the hay will only fall into the litter pan put the hay in a rack over by his food dish, I have never heard of this and therefore cant refure to it. Carefresh is very dusty bedding dont use it I reccomend yestereadys news for the cage and something like wood pellets for the litter box of coarse you could always do it the other way around.
