I Need To Know If My Rabbit Is Dieing?

22 11:18:13

Question
My rabbit is about six years old and he has gotten a bald spot behind his ears.  He is acting completely normal except it seems to to bug him to have someone touch the bald spot.  It is white like where the bald spot is and it looks sorta like a cut.  It also feels like a scab.  What do you recommend i do

Answer
Dear Chris,

It certainly doesn't sound as if your rabbit is dying.  But he may have fleas or mites causing this abnormal hair loss, and making him scratch himself raw.  Please see:

and find a good rabbit vet here:

If the area is just below the ear, and he's constantly scratching it and/or shaking his head, the vet will also want to check the ear for signs of infection, which would have to be treated with antibiotics:

I hope this helps.
