Rabbit died over night not RHD and no symptoms

hello,
My dwarf mix Heero died over night yesterday and left me devistated. I cannot do an adtopsy because he has been buried and dead for a day and a half now(not a pretty sight). He was 6 months of age at the least and was perfectly healthy the night before. My rabbit Duo is ok but I fear he will die also. I just want an answer or two to why he might have died he was neutered only a month ago I dont think it was from that.

Dear Amber,

I am very sorry about your terrible loss.  But unless you can provide me with some symptoms (loss of appetite?  Runny stool?  Unusual behavior?), there is almost no way to know why he died.  It could be any of dozens of things, and without more information, anything I would say would be a complete guess.

I hope you are taking special care of his buddy, as bonded rabbits can grieve to death when bereaved.  I know it's too soon, but eventually you may wish to allow your bunny to choose a new mate so he won't languish in loneliness.  But only the two of you will know when the time is right.
