Question
We have a two year old, fixed, male house bunny named Thumper.  We just got him one month ago from a friend who was relocating and could not take him with.  My question is that he has quit drinking entirely.  They were feeding him just pellets, hay, two carrots a day and his water bottle.  Since we have gotten him, I have introduced him to lots of greens.  He eats broccoli, romaine lettuce, celery, parsley, cilantro, green peppers, carrots (2 a day)and occasionally spinach.  I was wondering if he was getting enough water through the vegie's, and maybe that is why he is not drinking his water, or if it is more serious?  He is active, eating good, pooping normal, and peeing at least 3-4 times a day.  This is our first bunny, so any help would be appreciated!  Thanks

Answer
Dear Troutski,

If he's acting normal, urinating normally, and his urine is not extremely dark and concentrated, then he is likely getting all the water he needs from his wet greens.  I would certainly still provide him with a heavy crock full of clean water at all times.  But some rabbits don't drink much and are still perfectly healthy.  Your bunny may be one of those.

Hope this helps.
