Question
QUESTION: Help me please. My daughter got a rabbit from a neighbor. We were told she is 2 months old. We have had her for about 2 weeks now and she just had a baby. We were not planning on breeding her so we have not planned for this. What do we need to do for mom and baby or babies?

ANSWER: Well first off you can probably assume she is not 2 months old, she is probably 3-4 months old due to her having a baby.

If she had one baby then what you need to do is provide her with a nestbox, which can be a tupperwear container, shoe box, etc make sure it is big enough for the doe to fit inside comfortably. put hay, straw, or bedding in the nestbox and cover the floor completely up, then you can use either fleece, cotton, etc as long as there is no fringe to add for a soft place to lay and warmth.  Make sure the baby is warm and stays in the nestbox, if the mom has more out of the box put them in the nest box to.  This should not bother the doe since she is familiar with your smell and the babies need to stay in there to be kept warm.  Other than that just make sure the doe has plenty of fresh water, hay, and pellets to eat and let nature take its coarse.

But nature is not always kind so I am putting some links here for you to look at that will give you a more detailed information about rabbits babies etc.

QUESTION: Ok, so she had two. One is gray and one is pink. Is that normal?

Answer
Generally a gray one is going to be a dark colored rabbit (such as black blue, brown) and a pink is going to be a white or very very light colored rabbit (such as fawn or red)

It is normal for a baby rabbits skin to be different colors like that it just indicates the color of the hair.

The most important thing to watch for is full bellies.  A baby that has a full belly (or a milk belly)  will be shaped kind of like a tear drop (narrow at the head to a large round belly buttocks area) if they are warm and being fed (which happens about 1-2 times every 24hours so don't worry if you don't see it, just watch for milk bellies) then things should be going okay.

I do suggest checking the babies at least every 2 days to make sure they are still alive and that the bedding isn't  to gross or wet.

Good Luck and feel free to holler at me if you have any questions
