Bleeding in Female rabbit

Question
My rabbit Bugz passed on June 6. She was bleeding in little amounts, from urinary tract (I believe), up to 3 months prior to this but treated with antibiotics. The symptom returned several days before June 6. Her demeanor was fine at noon, but then she lost a lot of blood and by the time I got her to the vets, she had passed. I have not been able to identify the cause of this massive bleeding. Was it uterine cancer?
Thank you, Peter

Answer
Dear Peter,

Without more information and without data from a post mortem exam, it is not possible to know for sure why she died.  But the bleeding from her vent that was not resolved with antibiotics (was a culture ever done?):

suggests that it might, indeed, have been uterine cancer, if she was not spayed and if she was more than a year or two old.  If she was hemorrhaging seriously near the end, this is another hint that the problem might have been cancer.  But remember that this is only a guess.  Only a complete post mortem exam would reveal the actual cause of her passing.

I am very sorry about your loss.
