Question
I found this rabbit two weeks ago how do I tell if it is pragnent or not.And is their away to tell how old it is.

Answer
Dear Dawn,

Even an experienced rabbit vet can find it very difficult to tell if a rabbit is pregant, if the condition has not progressed far.  Watch for signs of a swelling belly and movement inside that doesn't look smooth.

If she is pregnant or suffering a false pregnancy, she also may become moody and even defensive enough to strike out and whimper when she's approached, though not all rabbits do this.

There is also no good way to know the age of an adult rabbit, though certain signs can indicate that the rabbit is mature/aging, such as:

1.  rough, opaque claws
2.  greenish pupils (sign of lens thickening with age)
3.  brownish teeth
4.  stiff gait (possibly from arthritis)

Weigh her and take a picture of her now.  If she is less than a year old, she will change in shape and weight over the next few months, and you can tell by comparison.  But there is no way to know exactly how old she is.

Good luck

Dana
