Question
My rabbit today has been very cold and just laying around. He ate alittle bit this afternoon and hasn't eatin since then. His fur is cold and so are his ears. I know he is not in any pain i can tell. He is just laying around and my rabbit runs all round my house and lays with me in bed and he hasn's done any of that today. He has been hiding under the bed all day. Can you help me.

Answer
Hi Susan,

anytime they are not excited for food, there is a big problem.  This is a major warning sign you need to get your rabbit in to the vet immediately.  I would even consider going to the emergency vet near you.  Call ahead and tell them you're coming in with a sick rabbit that has not been eating and is cold.

I would suggest taking his temperature with a digital baby thermometer.  Do not put it in too far, only 1/4 of an inch should be enough.  Normal temps are 101-104.  If you know what his normal temp is you will know better if it's off or not.

When you take him, if you have a gel heating pack, WARM it (NOT HOT!) and it MUST be wrapped with some light cloth to prevent too much heat burning him and to prevent him chewing it, warm it, cover it, and put it next ot him in the carrier.

If you decide not to go to any vet tonite, I would still warm the gel heat pad, cover it, and put it next to him to raise his temp a little.  Make sure he is drinking water, and you should use a plastic dropper to feed him some water if he is not drinking on his own.

This is not something that will go away on its own.  You will need to get him in to a good rabbit vet as soon as you physically can.
